Sacrificial love

Church was awesome today as usual. Music was a bit interesting because Adam & Kristi weren't there due to Kristi having a baby. Yay! We got to see pictures... really cute baby. My sister did her first major drive without mom or dad being with her today. She drove like an hour to where her choir concert was. Mom and I went over to Pastor Tim's for fellowship groups. It is such a blessing to be able to learn under his teaching. He does such a good job at presenting what God's word says! The sermon today was from 1 John 3:11-18. It was about Christ-like love. I can't even fathom what Christ did for us. He had all the rights to stay in heaven and be worshiped by the angels, but instead He not only came to earth as a man, but took our place in death. It is a love that doesn't even make sense! We are called to love like He did. Love chooses self sacrifice for another person regardless of if their response, their love for us, or if they deserve it. The only measure of how much love we should have is how much God loved each of us. One thing that really caught my attention today was when Pastor Tim said that growing in unconditional self sacrifice is a good indicator of our spiritual growth. We must put our desires behind us, and love others with all that we are.
